Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be 4000-5000 words, double-spaced, font 12 Times New Roman, with a margin of 1 inch on all sides. The Works Cited should appear at the end of the article in line with the pattern of the MLA stylesheet, 9th edition.

Manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word and should contain an abstract not exceeding 250 words with 4-5 key words. Either British or American spelling is acceptable provided it is consistent. A brief biodata, attached on a separate page, should indicate the name, title, status, institutional address, email address, and phone number of the author(s). Authors submitting manuscripts do so on the understanding that the work has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Plagiarism Policy

The Editorial Board of IUO Journal of English and Literary Studies considers plagiarism an ethical and criminal offence, and strongly advises authors to desist from such. The editorial board reserves the right to withdraw plagiarised material at any stage, including after publication, and blacklist the authors involved.

Peer Review Process

The Editor-in-Chief will screen all manuscripts submitted for originality. Manuscripts with a similarity index of more than 20% may be sent back to the author(s) to reduce the similarity index, or may be rejected. Authors whose manuscripts are successfully screened will pay the peer-review charge, after which their manuscripts will undergo blind double peer review by two experts in the relevant area. The decisions of the reviewers will be communicated to the authors. Authors whose manuscripts are not rejected must effect all corrections and address all areas of concern stipulated by the reviewers, within a given period of time, before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. Upon full correction of a manuscript, and payment of the publication charge, the manuscript will be published in the specified edition of IUO Journal of English and Literary Studies. The journal publishes online bi-annually – in June/July and November/December of each year.

Charges may be revised periodically in order to maintain the regularity and integrity of the journal.
